Bone broth is known to be rich in vitamins and minerals including calcium, magnesium and phosphorous. As bone broth is in liquid form, many of these nutrients are in a soluble form that can be easier to digest.

By slowly cooking, we dissolve the collagen and cartilage of the bones into the broth, and these glycoproteins become the building blocks of our joints, keeping us lubricated and moving freely. A 2015 study in found that the amino acid glycine is a safe therapeutic option to improve sleep, and that people who take glycine before sleeping (by enjoying a cup of bone broth with supper, for example) may feel that they sleep better and feel more rested the following day.
