Daylesford is one of the most sustainable organic farms in the UK.
We believe farming and eating organically is best for our soil, environment, animals, health and wellness. These principles are at the heart of everything we do here – from the organic ingredients grown and reared on our farm to the sheep’s wool insulation used in our Daylesford Cottages.
The cottages have been carefully restored to retain their original farmhouse features, using natural, locally sourced and recycled materials employing age-old techniques by skilled craftsmen. These include Cotswold stone floor tiles from a local quarry and oak beams made from the fallen trees on the Daylesford Estate. The walls are plastered with natural lime, traditional wicker panels are crafted from willow for detailing and local timber used to create our beautiful bespoke furniture.
It is often the small details that can make the biggest impact; we supply recycling bins, ask guests to be mindful of turning off the lights and electrical appliances when not in use, and to hang towels to dry to use again. Our 1,800 solar panels located across the farm provide us with electricity which helps to power the cottages electric AGAs and the low energy lighting fitted throughout. We have Teslar car charging points in the main carpark for guests and visitors and future plans include extending the connection from our wood chip boiler to heat the cottages and provide all their hot water.
Each cottage contains refillable bottles of filtered water from our Zero Waste Pantry. Created with sustainability in mind, the Zero Waste Pantry in our farmshop makes it easy for you to make a difference. We have replaced single-use packaging with refillable vessels, so shopping for your kitchen staples can be lighter on our planet’s precious resources. Similarly our refillable bottles of cleaning products are refilled each week in our Zero Waste Pantry.
Beautiful countryside surrounds our cottages.
We encourage our guests to use the map in our welcome pack to explore the Daylesford walks, with their rich hedgerows, trees, diverse wildlife, beehives, wetlands, river habitats and wild flower meadows that are the hallmarks of sustainable organic farming.
During the growing season, the flowers in our cottages are picked from the organic Cutting Garden next to our Market Garden. For the colder months, enjoy the warmth of our open fires, with logs from the farm where more trees are planted than harvested.
In your bathroom you will find the Bamford Bath & Body collection, made with naturally sourced and, wherever possible, certified organic ingredients.
Together we can help to make a greater difference to the world around us. For more information on our approach to sustainability click here.
