Join us for an evening of still life watercolour painting with illustrator MAY VAN MILLINGEN.

During this workshop, you will be taught how to use watercolour paints and to explore drawing approaches to understand line, tone, texture and composition used in still life drawing. Via Zoom you will be shown how to create work that has interesting textures as well as fluid, loose colours, all you need to do is gather together a small assortment of fruit and vegetables from your kitchen. Some examples you could gather to draw include peaches, lemons, figs, pears, pomegranates, apples, onions, garlic and root vegetables.


  • Watercolour paper
  • A small set of watercolour paints
  • A paint brush
  • A soft pencil
  • A few sheets of kitchen roll
  • 2 cups of water
  • An old plate or palette

Illustrator May van Millingen’s work spans the worlds of publishing, food, web, advertising, interiors, contemporary culture and design. May takes inspiration from nature and daily life, both real and imagined. Using ink, crayon, pencil and watercolour, May creates unique illustrations for many worldwide leading brands and has exhibited in London.
