Join us for a virtual eco-printing workshop hosted by Nila, a non-profit organisation and a cultural centre of excellence dedicated to honouring and preserving the natural dye and handloom textile traditions of rural India.

Eco-printing is a simple but beautiful technique of printing textiles using natural materials such as flowers and leaves to transform anything from an old t-shirt to a plain scarf into a unique, expressive piece – the perfect craft activity for all ages.

The eco-printing workshop will take you through the process of treating your chosen textile for colour fastness using everyday natural ingredients, followed by eco-printing using a simple technique of rolling up the textile with natural materials and steaming to create abstract prints.

Workshop attendees are asked to provide their own materials as described below.

Materials required

Fabric pieces, thread, steamer, alum powder (to fix the colour), natural materials such as rose petals, eucalyptus, dahlias
