This virtual pottery workshop has been created for children to provide a fun, creative and mindful activity. Hosted by Nila, a non-profit organisation and a cultural centre of excellence dedicated to honouring and preserving the natural dye and handloom textile traditions or rural India.

Children will explore two key techniques of clay work: coiling and pinching. Clay work is a tactile craft that is accessible and fun for all age groups and our young participants will be encouraged to make imaginative figurines or simple everyday objects like pencil holders.

Workshop attendees are asked to provide their own materials as described below.

Part of the Lady Bamford Foundation, Nila aims to share resources and knowledge, support sustainable design and celebrate craftsmanship. Nila means “blue” in Sanskrit, evoking the distinctive hue of natural indigo.
