Join us for a full day workshop at Daylesford to explore the lost art of nature printing.

Hosted by designer and printmaker Pia Östlund, the workshop is an in-depth introduction to the captivating technique of nature printing, which was developed by physicians in the 15th century to aid the study of medicinal and useful plants. The innovative technique gave rise to a wealth of strange and beautiful imagery in mid-19th century Vienna and London before it was lost. A discovery of a book in the Chelsea Physic Garden’s library led to a quest to revive it 150 years later.

You will learn more about the history of nature printing, followed by a demonstration and printing session where you will learn how to take impressions using fresh plants and oil-based coloured inks on paper. You will have the opportunity to make your own nature printed project, such as a series of patterns, a set of cards or a record of your own garden.

Suitable for all levels including complete beginners.

The course price includes all materials, lunch and light refreshments.
