English Garden Cocktail with Elderflower and Lemon

(Make 1 large glass)
  • 1cm slice cucumber
  • 8-10 mint leaves, plus a sprig to garnish
  • 50ml gin
  • 25ml elderflower cordial
  • 25ml lemon juice
  • crushed ice
  • apple slice and edible flower to garnish (optional)

The mocktails and cocktails we serve on our menus at Daylesford all draw inspiration from the garden. Fresh, zesty, invigorating, vibrant and even cleansing – there’s something for everyone.

This English Garden cocktail is a true favourite. Bright and fresh with the delicious addition of quintessentially English elderflower cordial and garden mint.

You can also find the recipe, alongside a number of others in NURTURE, a collection of notes and recipes from Daylesford’s founder Carole Bamford.

Quarter the slice of cucumber and put the chinks into a tumbler. Muddle with the cocktail muddler or the end of a rolling pin or wooden spoon. Rub the mint between your fingers then add it to the glass along with the gin, elderflower cordial and lemon juice. Top up with crushed ice, then stir the bottom with a bar spoon. Tp with more ice before garnishing with the apple, mint and edible flower, if using.
