Autumn Wreath Making with Honeysuckle & Hilda
We are delighted to welcome back florist and author Claire Bowen of Honeysuckle and Hilda to Daylesford to host a series of seasonally inspired floristry classes.
This early autumn workshop will introduce you to the techniques of making a moss based wreath working with seasonal materials. Claire will talk about structures and how to create layers of shape with dried flowers, vines and other materials as you go along.
Claire will discuss which flowers will work well for drying, what type of foraged materials will work well for creating a loose, natural style, and will bring items from her own garden and studio as well as locally sourced ingredients from other growers. Weather permitting, the workshop will include a guided trip to our organic cutting garden at Daylesford, where you may pick any additional shapes that catch your eye.
After a demonstration by Claire, you will create your own natural wreath – as wild or as neat as you like – to take home, including a sumptuous, naturally dyed silk ribbon as a final flourish.
With a background in art history and environmental campaigning, Claire cares passionately about leaving the lowest possible footprint as she practices her wild, natural style of floristry from her studio in South Oxfordshire. Her work has been featured in magazines such as Homes & Gardens and Country Living and her first book, The Healing Power of Flowers, is out now.
