Cooking on the barbecue can often be a daunting task, but with the right techniques it can be one of the most rewarding ways to prepare food. Throughout the day, you’ll learn how to control heat and flavour using both direct and indirect cooking methods, as well as the art of low and slow smoking for perfectly tender, deeply flavoured results. Whether you are just cooking at home for your family or preparing a feast for a summer gathering, we ‘ll cover everything from whole-fish, slow-cooked cuts, vibrant vegetables and even pudding dishes along with a number of marinades, salads and accompaniments to make sure you can approach your next barbecue with confidence.

On arrival, we will introduce you to your day over freshly made tea and coffee, before we head out to our 32-acre Market Garden and our BBQ cooking area, there you will enjoy a series of demonstrations and guided hands-on cookery sessions to create your own dishes cooking on our Big Green Egg barbecues. Throughout the day you will have the chance to sit down to eat everything you make, accompanied by a glass or two of wine or chilled beers

Full-day course from 9.30AM - 3.00PM includes practical and demonstration cookery sessions, lunch, refreshments, course materials and a selection of BBQ dishes to eat created throughout the day. Guests of The Cookery School also enjoy a discount of up to 25% in our Farmshop after their course.

 


 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: 

  • How many people can attend?

    Our cookery courses can host up to a maximum of 12 guests, everyone will work in pairs cooking together over our 6 Big Green Egg barbecues.

  • What will we be cooking?

    We plan the menus for all our cookery courses roughly 1-week in advance to ensure that the dishes created are as seasonal as possible therefore, we are unable to publish what will be covered on this course.

  • I have dietary requirements can I attend?

    On booking, there is a mandatory field to fill in under the name for each guest attending where you can provide details of any dietary requirements or allergies. With this information we can then tailor the days menu to suit or provide alternative ingredients where necessary. 

  • Can I book this experience as a gift?

    You can book places in advance for as a gift for somone, however if you do not know yet whether they will be able to attend we recommend buying them one of our gift vouchers instead.   • There aren't enough places available, is there a waitlist?

    If there are not enough tickets available, simply email thecookeryschool@daylesford.com and we can add your details to our waitlist and let you know if we receive any cancellations.
