Black Beauty Aubergine Seeds
Certified organic seeds of solanum melongena.
Details | Traditional variety of dark, glossy oval aubergine dating back to the 1800s. How to grow: Sow the seeds in a tray or module of good organic compost between January and March. They need a temperature of 18-21°C so a small propagator is ideal. Once the seedlings are 5cm tall, pot them on in small 8cm pots and keep warm. Once they are 10cm tall you can plant them out, three to a grow bag or in a greenhouse or polytunnel border, 60cm apart. They will need support and tying in as they grow. Purple star-shaped flowers will appear late spring, followed by small immature fruits. As the fruits grow, feed with an organic liquid feed. Cut the aubergine fruits when they are 12-20 cm long, firm, plump and shiny. You should get 3-5 fruits per plant. |
