CAROLE BAMFORD’S ULTIMATE GUIDE TO GIFTING
THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THOUGHTFUL CHRISTMAS GIFTING – DISCOVER WHAT OUR FOUNDER WILL BE GIFTING TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY THIS YEAR.
Christmas is a wonderful time for gathering friends and family, and an opportunity to make your loved ones feel special. When it comes to gifts, I always try and think about how much something will be loved and appreciated. You’ll find some of my top tips below.
For my edit, I’ve included a range of gift ideas that will hopefully suit everyone on your Christmas list. There’s homeware from our collaboration with Colefax & Fowler, beautiful festive plates painted by hand in Moustiers and a blanket made from the wool of our Daylesford sheep.
I love giving friends beautifully planted baskets or little trees that will have a life for years to come in their gardens or growing spaces. Another lovely idea is to gift a pot planted with layers of bulbs that will flower throughout the spring.
Always think about packaging – can you use a reusable box or tin, a ceramic, or something that won’t be thrown away. You could also reuse a container you have at home and fill with something homemade - chutney, biscuits or sloe gin.
I can’t resist giving my dogs a little present on the day – this year our ARKE collection has been extended to include some wonderful handmade pet accessories or for something extra special we have also curated a special Dog Hamper featuring our brand-new range of Daylesford dog food, a dog bowl and a collar.
ONE-OF-A-KIND HANDMADE DECORATIONS
Over ten years ago we set up a stitching and embroidery centre in India as part of the Lady Bamford Charitable Trust, giving women from disadvantaged communities a place to learn traditional craft skills. The women make beautiful handmade decorations. I love to gift these as table favours or stocking fillers.
If you’re stuck for ideas I think a hamper is a wonderful gift to receive, especially for those hosting. Hampers can be matched to different tastes and interests, or simply offer a selection of delicious festive indulgences. There are lots of ways you can reuse the basket afterwards, which you can find here. And as part of our commitment to increasing wild habitats and biodiversity on our farms, we will be planting a native tree sapling for every Daylesford Hamper sold.
