Best Ever Bloody Mary




For the Bloody Mary

  • 100ml horseradish vodka (see recipe below)
  • 200ml good quality tomato juice
  • 10ml lemon juice
  • 10 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 dashes Tabasco sauce
  • Garnish with anything from heritage tomatoes to baby carrots or other suitable small seasonal veg

Horseradish Vodka

The best ever Bloody Mary is quite a claim, but this spicy, peppery recipe that we use at our bar in The Old Spot is definitely up there. Our secret lies in two key areas: top quality tomato juice and our hot horseradish vodka!



Add all of the Bloody Mary ingredients to a cocktail shaker and shake well. Pour through a strainer over two glasses with ice, garnish and serve deliciously cold and fresh. 

To make the horseradish vodka, remove the outer skin from the horseradish root and using a potato peeler, peel of around 15 long strips. Add the strips to the vodka with the honey and leave to infuse for 3-4 days in a dark spot before straining and using as required.

** If you don’t have time to make the horseradish vodka, use 1/4 – 1/2 a teaspoon of unsweetened horseradish.
